How you can help
The JoyPhone Project is a new and exciting endeavor that aims to bring happiness to the elderly living with dementia in Singapore. We are looking for help from the Singapore public to make this project a success!
Want to help? This is what you can do!
01 HELP US TEST
Firstly, we need families and nursing homes that are interested in adopting and testing the JoyPhone for a period after we have completed our first proto-types. We would love for you to document the reception and responses of the elderly living with dementia through video. We'd also be interested in hearing your thoughts on how this may assist you, as a caregiver.
02 HELP US BUILD
Secondly, we are looking for local electronics hobby clubs, schools with electronics projects and other amateurs to test the build instructions. The aim is that we need make the build instructions as simple as possible with parts that are readily available in Singapore. And while we are building our initial features, we would love to learn what other ideas you have to expand on the concept and overtime introduce new features.
03 DONATE OLD PHONES
Thirdly, we'll need to get a large number of donor rotary telephones and give them out to our build teams so they may be converted to JoyPhones. We believe that many Singapore homes may still have a Singtel rotary phone somewhere. Perhaps as a vintage display item or simply gathering dust in your cupboard. If you would like to donate a rotary phone, please contact us and we'll connect you to the build clubs.
04 SUGGEST OUR FIRST PLAYLIST
Finally, we're seeking for suggestions and input on the songs to be played through the Joyphones. Music memories may vary from one person to the next in our multi-cultural society in Singapore. We'd love to hear your ideas on how to fill up the first playlist. A feature will be included that enables us to modify the music to fit someone's childhood memories.
In summary, we will need your help to make this project a success, and we thank you in advance for your support. Please leave your details if you want to help out and join our JoyPhone community.
